In 1898 Hong Kong Kwong Sang Co. Ltd was founded and a plant was set up in Shanghai in 1930s.
In 1903 In the 29th year of the reign of Emperor GuangXu during Qing Dynasty (1903), Shanghai Kwong Sang was set up on Nanjing Road, Shanghai.
1904 -1910 Kwong Sang developed in its full swing. Apart from Hong Kong and Shanghai, It also founded distribution branches in major domestic cities including Guangdong, Fuzhou, Shandong, Beijing, Suzhou, Wuhan, Shenyang and Dalian.
In 1915 the brand “Shanghai VIVE” was granted Panama Awards. It received inscription from Li Yuanhong, Former President of Council of State of Nanjing Provisional Government and Generalissimo of Nanjing Government, “Condition is extremely beautiful”, “Excellent Material and Perfect Technique” which made “Two Girls” renowned.
In 1930s Shanghai Star Perfume and Soap Manufacturing Co. Ltd. was founded.
In 1931 9.18 Event took place in 1931; the Japanese army invaded Shanghai the next year. After the Event, Chinese people began to refuse goods made in Japan and fervidly advocated home-made products. Against this background, Kwong Sang Shanghai Plant applied for 9 categories of “Two Girls” for identification as domestic products including cold cream, toilet water and toothpaste, etc.
In 1956 joint state-private ownership was implemented in full-scale in Shanghai, after acquiring several chemicals plants, Kwong Sang Co. Ltd Shanghai Plant was renamed as “Joint State-Private Ownership Kwong Sang Manufacturing Plant”.
In 1958 Kwong Sang, Star Household Chemicals Manufacturing Plant, Oriental Chemical Industrial Association, and China Xieji Cosmetics Plant merged into Shanghai Star Household Chemicals Manufacturing Plant.
In 1960 Skin care products like “Friendship” and “Yashuang” were born in 1960s.
In 1964 Shanghai Star Household Chemicals Manufacturing Plant, the predecessor of Jahwa, formulated the turbidity standard to control the clarity of toilet water.
In 1967 during the period of Cultural Revolution, Shanghai Star Household Chemicals Manufacturing Plant was renamed as “Shanghai Household Chemicals Plant” by deleting two words of “Star and
Manufacturing”.
In 1983 the first series of advanced cosmetics of China “Ruby” was created.
In 1984 when USA President Ronald Reagan stopped in Shanghai during his state visit to China, Shanghai government presented “Ruby” to Reagan’s wife, Ms Nancy, which was the first case among home-made cosmetics.
In 1985 the test standard for major cosmetics including toilet water in domestic daily cosmetics industry were drafted by Shanghai Jahwa. The test standard guarantees quality.
In 1991 “Liushen” Floral Water of special effect was developed.
In 1992 “Shanghai Household Chemical Plant” was restructured as “Shanghai Jahwa United Co., Ltd”.
In 1995 based on the washing manner of Chinese consumers, Liushen body lotion was successfully developed.
In 1995 On May 18th 1995, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Jiang Zeming visited Jahwa and inscribed his name for commemoration.
In Jan. 1996 Shanghai Jahwa Co. Ltd was established.
In 1996 the Technical Center of Jahwa was certified as enterprise technical center of city level by Shanghai Economic and Trade Commission.
In 1997 Jahwa Technical Center was among the first batch of unit selected for technical experiment in Shanghai.
In 1998 Jahwa Pingpu Central Plant was put into operation, indicating that Jahwa has the strongest production capacity compared with its domestic counterparts.
In 1999 Jahwa Technical Center was certified as Technical Center of state level by State Economic and Trade Commission.
In 1999 Jahwa Technical Center was approved by Ministry of Personnel of the People's Republic of China as scientific workstation of post-doctorate.
In Oct. 1999 Shanghai Jahwa United Co. Ltd was founded.
In 2001 Shanghai Jahwa was recognized as “Outstanding Enterprise in Shanghai Industry”.
In 2001 Shanghai Jahwa was listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange.
In 2002 Healthy and beautiful culture of Jahwa was rebuilt.
In 2002 Shanghai Jahwa won the title of “Top 100 Enterprises in Shanghai”.
In April 2003 Shanghai Jahwa Technical Center of state level was completed. It is both an enterprise technical center of state level and a workstation for post-doctorate, integrating “basic research”, “product development”, “industrial design”, “technique control” with “information collection and analysis”.
In 2003 Liushen floral water won the title of “Chinese Famous Brand”.
In 2003 “CHINFIE” and “HERBORIST” were awarded the title of Shanghai Famous Trademark.
In 2003 In the “Survey of 2003 the Most Competitive Brand by V-Marketing and Sinomonitor Interntional”, body lotion series of Liushen ranked top with 18.04% market share which was 10.54% over the second place LUX. Besides, among top five brands in terms of market share, the rest four were all from transnational companies. Liushen was a deserved “the Most Competitive Brand”.
In 2003 two proprietary technologies of Shanghai Jahwa won Gold Medals from China International Patent and Famous Brand Exhibition.
In 2004 supported by its solution of functional skin care in summer that combines ancient prescription of traditional Chinese medicine with modern science and technology, Liushen defeated transnational companies in the battle of summer market and won the award of “2004 Best-Selling Brand” presided by The Economic Observer Newspaper with its absolute advantage of competitive capabilities.
In 2004 Liushen was granted the title of “No.1 Quality Brand in the Chinese Market”.
In 2005 “MAXAM” and “CHINFIE” were selected as Shanghai Annual Famous Brand.
In 2005 series of Jahwa products were granted New Patent Product Award by Shanghai Economic and Trade Commission, Finance Bureau and Intellectual Property Rights Bureau, including CQ series of “MAXAM”, shower gel of “Liushen”, air disinfector of “Jia An”, personal & skin care products of “HERBOIST”, and GF series.
In 2005 MAXAM was selected as “Famous Brand of My Most Favorite Chinese Cosmetics and Cleaning Product”.
In 2005 HERBORIST won “Beautiful China 2005 Cosmetics Media Award”.
In 2005 Liushen won “2005 Annual Brand Building Top 10”Award selected by 21st Century Business Herald.
In 2005 HERBORIST won Annual Cosmetics Prize presided by 《2005COSMO》
In 2005 Shanghai Jahwa won “2001-2004 Special Award of National Best-practice Enterprise with Quality and Efficiency in Light Industry”.
In 2005 MAXAM was listed in “2005 CCTV My Most Favorite Chinese Brand” presided by CCTV in a nationwide consumer survey.
In 2005 Liushen shower gel and GF moisturizer were awarded Shanghai Invention Patent Prize.
In 2006 “MAXAM” and “Liushen” were appraised as Chinese Famous Trade Mark by Shanghai Administration Bureau for Industry and Commerce.
In 2006 “HERBORIST” and “CHINFIE” were appraised as 2006-2008 Shanghai Famous Trade Mark by Shanghai Administration Bureau for Industry and Commerce.
In 2006 HERBOIST won “China Creative Award granted by 21st Century Economic Review----the most creative products in China”, paralleling with giants like Meng Niu, Baidu, Founder Group and TCL.
In 2006 MAXAM won “High-tech Cosmetics Award” granted by China Association of Fragrance Flavor and Cosmetic Industry.
In 2006 “Liushen” toilet water was re-selected as “Chinese Famous Brand”.
In 2006 HERBOIST won the Most Creative Life Category Award in the first session of “2006 Chinese Creative”.
In 2006 Liushen won “2006 Chinese Students’ Favorite Brand Award” granted by China Business in a nationwide public selection.

In 2006 Liushen took the first place in terms of aggregative indicator of brand share and brand competitiveness; with its excellent performance in brand consumer share, brand absolute permeability, brand loyalty, brand preference and competitiveness among consumers, Liushen won the award of “2005 Top 10 of the Fastest Growing Brand in China ” granted by V-MARKETING and Sinomonitor Interntional .
In 2006 development project of“in-depth healing effect and natural (Chinese medicinal herb) cosmetics” won the second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award and an accredited transformation project of new and high-tech achievements.
In 2006 brands of skin-care products like Liushen, MAXAM and CHINFIE were awarded “National Free-inspection Product” certificate.
In 2007 Liushen was awarded the honor of “the Most Competitive Brand” through the procedure of test and measurement by Commerce Department of PRC on the basis of professional institute indicators, overall evaluation by experts within the circle, consumer market survey and public announcement. For Liushen, that was the third award of state –ministry and commission level after receivi
ng several state-level awards of “Chinese Famous Trade Mark” and “Chinese Famous Product”, which fully demonstrated the recognition and award about years of brand-building process.
In 2007 Shanghai Jahwa was rated by the Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of Ministry of Commerce as AA grade in terms of comprehensive level of credibility.
In 2007 Shanghai Jahwa was selected as Model Enterprise of Shanghai Intellectual Property Rights by Shanghai Economic and Trade Commission, Finance Bureau and Intellectual Property Rights Bureau.
